Erlengrund Day-Care Centre: from the bill of quantities (LV) to the first variation order (Nachtrag)

What you will do

The town of Hollenwerder (Lower Saxony) is publicly tendering a new four-group day-care centre (Kita) under VOB/A. You price the bill of quantities (Leistungsverzeichnis, LV), apply site overheads (Baustellengemeinkosten, BGK), head-office overheads (Allgemeine Geschäftskosten, AGK) and risk and profit (Wagnis und Gewinn) on the correct base, level the subcontractor bids for the earthworks in a bid comparison (Preisspiegel), prepare the 1st interim invoice (Abschlagsrechnung) with retention (Sicherheitseinbehalt) and VAT (Umsatzsteuer), and price a variation order (Nachtrag) under § 2 Abs. 6 VOB/B from the original estimate (Urkalkulation). Every figure is checked against the case ledger, and every known mistake has a name. Learning outcome: after five tasks (about four hours) you can price a VOB/A tender using overhead-allocation pricing (Zuschlagskalkulation), level a subcontractor bid properly, check an interim invoice under VOB/B §§ 16 and 17 with correct VAT, and justify a variation under § 2 Abs. 6 VOB/B from the original estimate.
